Follow the directions
here,
or even better, generate your own using
this Google map
(where you'll also see GPS coordinates).
Either will get you to the main guard gate on S. Ithan
Street.
The approximate street address that will get you to the S. Ithan Street
gate is: 54 N Ithan Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085
Step 2 - From the main gate
Greet the gruff but lovable guard and tell him or her where you are
headed ("to the Computing Sciences Department in Mendel Science Center").
The guard will verify your name and destination and
give you a parking pass.
The guard may also point you toward the Mendel Science Center.
Using the map below, follow the
red line along the railroad tracks to the blue area (parking).
The
green arrow points to the department office.
Park in the lot which is behind Mendel Science Center and near the Septa
train station.
Enter the door on the ground floor of the part of the building pointed
to by the green arrow, and go up the stairs to the 1st floor. If that door
happens to be locked, go around to the right and enter the first doors you
get to on your left.
Go
straight ahead to the first open door on the left, room 161, which is the
department office.
Ask anybody there (usually Jessica or Anne) to point you
toward your contact person's office.
By Train
Step 0 - Take SEPTA's R5 (Paoli Local) to Villanova
When you leave the train, take the pedestrian tunnel under the tracks
and walk straight through the walkway. The first building you will see,
directly in front of you, is Mendel Science Center.
What about taking the Route 100 bus instead? The collective
wisdom says two things about that: (1) "R5 is quicker, and it’s closer on
our end, but you need to get to
30th St station. Route 100 is cheaper, runs more frequently, and is a little
closer to Penn." and (2) "I would also add that with Route 100 you need to
change at 69th St, but R5 is direct."
Step 1 - Get to the Computing Sciences office
Enter the side door of Mendel Science Center (closest door to the train
tracks), which is at the Basement level of the building. Go in whichever
door will open (usually the leftmost door labeled "Enter"). The backup plan
in case the doors are locked is to go around to the right and enter on the
Ground floor on the left side of the archway.
Go up two flights
of stairs, passing the Ground level to arrive at the 1st floor.
Go through the double doors and walk straight ahead to the second door
on the left, which is the Department of Computing Sciences office (Mendel
161)
Ask anybody there (usually Jessica or Anne) to point you
toward your contact person's office.
Alternately, if you are arriving to present at one of our weekly
colloquia, you could also proceed directly to the colloquium presentation
room. Find out the room number by viewing the
Colloquium Schedule for
your talk.
