Color Flat Art
1998 Spring
The original work is a 17"x24" color grease pen drawing on recycled newspaper. The digital image was taken with a Nikon CoolPix 900 set at normal resolution (regrets!)
The original file size in .gif was nearly 500KB, too large for web applications. It was shrinked into a 3"x5" image by PhotoShop and resulting in a file of 71KB.
What you see here looks terrible. Basically, it is flat and flat images are boring.
Digital Enhancement
1999 Fall
PhotoShop came to the rescue and partially saved the day.
Depth of the original art work was recaptured, although not its resolution due to file size limitations on Web.
The original background was a flat color of tanish brown of the recycled newspaper and after the PhotoShop enhancement, it acqrires a pleasant tanish silvery tone, a surprising but welcome side effect. The tool did it on its own!
The modern artists are facing a new challenge. Do they have a new tool to use or new obstacles to conqure? What do you think?
In 5" x 7"
1999 Fall
This is not the last picture digitally enlarged. It is remade from the original file into a new one with a 5"x7" image size.
