Dam rats were allocated randomly to receive either 0, 30, 100, or 300 mg/kg q.d. of an investigational compound. The dams were treated from 15 days prior to cohabitation with similarly treated males, during cohabitation, and through Day 20 of gestation. Two male and two female pups (but sometimes only one male and/or female pup) from each litter were tested in a battery of developmental signs procedures. These were auditory startle, free fall righting, testes descent or vaginal canalization tests. In each litter, for each sex separately, the number of pups responding positively out of the number of pups tested was recorded as 2/2, 1/1, 1/2, 0/1, or 0/2.
