Brute Force and Puzzles
Brute force is antithetical to puzzle solving
Puzzles can be used to demonstrate limitations of brute force
- inapplicability or clumsiness:
crossing a grid of nine dots in the plane by four straight lines without lifting the pen off the paper
- inefficiency:
generating magic squares by exhaustive search
