Course Description:

Course Objectives: After taking this course, you should expect to:

• Understand how text, audio, video, and images are represented digitally
• Understand the common techniques for compressing text, audio, video, and images
• Understand how 3-D representations of virtual worlds are produced
• Understand how multimedia data can be packaged/stored for distribution
• Understand the role of the MPEG and CD standards in multimedia creation
• Understand the techniques and issues behind enforcing copyright
• Apply your course knowledge either to planning and creating a basic multimedia product or to conducting and presenting research on a multimedia topic
