Course Organization: At the end of each lecture, I will assign a set of reading for the following week. It is important that you keep up with the reading, as my lectures will assume at least a passing familiarity with the readings. There will be approximately 6 written (graded) homework assignments, exactly 2 programming assignments, a paper, a midterm, and a comprehensive final. Due to the infrequency with which each section of this course meets, neither homework assignments nor programming assignments can be handed in late; unless serious circumstances prevail, late assignments will simply be counted as 0. If you must be absent when an assignment is due, please tell me about it as soon as possible (i.e. at least a week's advance warning) so we can make alternate arrangements. Academic Integrity: You may not share answers for assignments or copy answers from any unsanctioned sources, though you are allowed to discuss problems with programming assignments. As long as what you hand in to me is solely the product of your own thinking, or is properly attributed, you are maintaining academic integrity. WHEN IN DOUBT, consult me or the TA for help. ANY VIOLATION OF ACADEMIC INTEGRITY WILL RESULT IN AT LEAST A GRADE OF ZERO FOR THE ASSIGNMENT AND A REPORT TO THE UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC INTEGRITY BOARD. For more information, please check the Villanova web site's complete Academic Integrity Policy. Last modified: 8/25/99 |
