Grade Assignments: Overall course grades will be based on the following weighted sum:

Final grades: will be assigned based on the absolute scale listed below. Numeric grades are rounded to the nearest tenth. I will not scale any homework, exam, or programming grades, though I reserve the right to raise a student’s final letter grade to the next higher "notch" if the student is within 0.75 of the next notch and actively and engagingly participated in class discussion. Note that mere attendance and only occasional participation is not enough to warrant this.
