I was born in Georgia, a republic of the late USSR, and currently an independent state. In 1983 I received an MS in philosophy from Tbilisi State University, and in 1987 a PhD in logic from Moscow State University. Since then until 1992 I worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of Georgia.
The collapse of the world in which I was born and raised has pushed
me to the West.
In 1992-1993 I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Amsterdam,
department of Mathematics and Computer Science, and in 1993-1994 a
visiting professor at the
University of Notre Dame,
Philosophy department.
In 1998 I received my second PhD, - this time in Computer Science, -
from the University of Pennsylvania.
I joined the Computing Sciences Department of Villanova University in
the Fall of 1998.
