RTSE parameters related to the Session Layer services are
shown in Figure
. Dialog-mode selects either
monologue or two-way alternate to specify whether transfers
will occur in one direction only (monologue) or both directions by turns
(two-way alternate). Initial turn specifies which side has the
right to send data first. If the monologue dialog mode was chosen, then
the first side to have the turn will be the only one to send data. User data is optional as in other service parameter lists and provides
a way for the service user to pass information to its peer.

parameters of the RTSE service
RT-TRANSFER, the user
data to be sent and the maximum time allowed to complete the
transfer. (Note: The RTSE RT-TRANSFER service was defined as consisting
of three services: RT-TRANSFER.request, RT-TRANSFER.indication, and
RT-TRANSFER.confirmation. In this design, the RTSE service provider
does not wait for a response from its user before sending the PDU to its
peer that says the transfer has occurred. [] More recent
descriptions of the service primitives do incorporate a
RT-TRANSFER.response primitive. [])
