Hotel Information
The Symposium is being held at the Norfolk Waterside
Convention Center. We have reserved blocks of rooms at
both our headquarters hotel, the Norfolk Waterside Marriott,
connected directly to the Convention Center, and the nearby Sheraton
Norfolk Waterside. The contracted room rate is $119 for a
single or double. The cut off date for the room blocks is early
February, so please make your reservations before then. Identify
yourself as attending the ACM/SIGCSE conference.
NOTE: Around January 23rd we
confirmed that the reserved room blocks at
the Marriott and Sheraton were heavily booked. You may still be able
to get a room, especially if you are not staying through the
entire conference, but you may not. Below the information about
these two hotels, we have listed some alternative hotels. This
includes a Courtyard by Marriott, which is very close to the
conference site, and where we have been able to block off
some rooms at the rate of $135 for the conference.
The cut-off date for this offer is February 11.
NOTE: As of February 4th we understand that
the room block at the Marriott Courtyard has also been sold out.
We have been trying for several weeks to increase the size of
our block at the various hotels but we have only had marginal success.
You may still be able to get rooms at the Marriott, Sheraton,
or Courtyard, but unless you are very lucky to attempt your
reservation just after someone else has cancelled, you will not
be able to get the room at the conference rate.
Rooms at a higher non-conference rate may be available. Try asking for
a government rate (if you are with a state school), or other discounts.
We list several alternative hotels below.
NOTE: On February 11th we arranged
a discounted block of rooms at the Radisson Hotel Norfolk. This
hotel is a "healthy" walk from the Conference Center, about 9 blocks.
The rooms are $119 per night. There is public transportation that
is handy to both the hotel and the Convention Center. See more
information below.

The Radisson Hotel Norfolk is about 9 blocks away - a long walk;
however, there is a downtown electric shuttle bus that stops at the Greyhound
Station about a block away from the Radisson and can easily deliver
you to the Convention Center.
On February 11th we contracted with the Radisson for a small block
of rooms (about 45 rooms per night average) at the conference
rate of $119 per night, plus tax. Parking is free.
Reservations can be made through central reservations
at (800) 333-3333. Please indicate that you're interested
in making reservations at the Radisson Hotel Norfolk
for the SIGCSE Conference (Overflow Rooms) group, presented by ACM.
